Service Description

At times all caregivers feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. The Circle of Security® Parenting™ program is based on decades of attachment research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened and how to give babies and young children the best start of life. Learning Objectives: • Understand children's' emotional world by learning to read their emotional needs • Support children's ability to successfully manage and regulate their emotions • Enhance the development of a child's self esteem • Honour your innate caregiver wisdom and desire for your child to be secure What: Manualised video-based sessions to provide a clear understanding of children's needs and role caregiver-child relationship plays in forming secure relationships with babies and young children How: Learning sessions include reflective discussion, and reflective video watching with other caregivers Times: Day One 9.00am until 3.00pm | Day Two 9.00 until 3.00pm approximately Cost: $199 per person. A 30 minute morning tea break & 60 minute lunch break. Tea & coffee provided. Please BYO lunch. Who should attend: Caregivers of children aged 0-8 years old. Numbers are strictly limited to comply with physical distancing and participants must comply with health and hygiene requirements. What to Expect: It is recommended that caregivers arrange childcare for all children due to the nature of the therapeutic work covered. Parents/caregivers with babies in arms or aged 12 months or younger are welcome if you are unable to arrange care. This programme has been abbreviated, meaning the usual 8-week course has been condensed into two day long sessions to be more flexible & affordable for families and caregivers. No content is lost by completing this after hours weekend abbreviated program. The program is also available for free during business hours through your local Child Health by calling 1300 366 039. Parents/caregivers who require more intensive support, where group dynamics might be impacted, who are currently in crisis, experiencing severe mental health or substance abuse issues are also recommended to be referred externally to receive other, more appropriate, support service. Please note that the program is non-refundable should you miss a session. Future sessions may be 'caught up' at a later group date.
